Chef Rémi Digital Cooking Thermometer Product Review

The Chef Rémi company asked me to review their new Digital Cooking Thermometer  – model #TP101 awhile back.

They were interested in getting it into the hands of someone who would be using it outdoors as opposed to using it indoors and I certainly fit that criteria!

The Digital Cooking Thermometer arrived in a lightweight envelope rather quickly from Amazon.

Inside was my new thermometer packed in a strong plastic tube with a cap and lanyard – nice touch.

It is the “Pen” type digital thermometer style.

The thermometer, tube and cap weighs all of 1 ounce when I checked it on my postal scale, making it very easy to transport.

Over all the thermometer looked like a sturdy piece of technology.

Fortunately, you don't need to read the instructions to use the Digital Cooking Thermometer right out of the box.

It's simple digital interface work easily and accurately.

Just press the On/Off button to power it up.

First thing I did was an ice water temp test and it was spot on.

It's digital readout was bright and easy to read without my reading glasses.

Four buttons are on the face: On/Off, Hold, °C/°F and Max/Min.

Specifications:

Temperature range is – 50°C -+ 300°C / -58°F -+ 572°F.

IResolution: 0.1 °C/°F

The probe shaft is almost 6″ long and ends in a tapered tip.

In comparison to another brand of instant read digital thermometer I use, it was rather thick and required a slight bit more pressure to insert into the food to test.

On the other hand it was the same size as another very popular brand of wireless digital thermometer probes – so I won't call this a big negative.

Here it is in use:

Over all I liked the Chef Rémi Digital Cooking Thermometer and I can say that I will be using it again, especially when the fire is hot and I need a long probe to test the food without searing my arm off!

Pros:

  • Light weight
  • Easy to use
  • Accurate
  • Long probe
  • Price – only $16.95
  • 100% Lifetime guarantee

Cons:

  • Probe is slightly thick and needs extra pressure to insert
  • Instruction sheet is very small – hard to read
